The present cadre strength for IAS, IPS and IFS officers in Odisha is 226, 188 and 141. Thirty five (35) IAS officers are under Central Deputation and five (5) IAS officers are in Inter State Deputation. Twenty One (21) IPS officers are under Central Deputation and one is in Inter State Deputation. Eleven (11) IFS officers are under Central Deputation.
Government of India (DoP&T) have been requested to allot required number of direct recruit IAS officers to Odisha to fill up the direct recruit vacancies. The vacancies in the promotion quota against the Select list 2014 shall be filled in 2015.

After restructuring of OAS cadre, about 230 officers have been promoted to OAS Group-A (SB) and above grade. More than 700 officers have been promoted to OAS Group-A(SB) and above grade.
By February 2015, there are 14 vacant posts in the grade of OAS Gr. A (SB) and 4 vacant posts in the grade of OAS(S). GA department is taking expeditious steps to collect the required PARs/CCRs, pendency of disciplinary proceeding status u/r-15 of OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962, vigilance, criminal status and status on suspension of officers concerned to fill up these vacancies through promotion.
In various departments, there are vacant Group-B posts with Grade Pay ` 4600/- and vacant Group- ‘A’ posts, for fulfilment of which Odisha Public Service Commission is given responsibility. Similarly for filling of State level Group B posts, whose grade pay is ` 4200/- and Group C posts, OSSC is given the responsibility. OPSC and OSSC for fulfilment of the above posts conducts examinations and publishes list of selected candidates name and recommends the same to the concerned departments for appointment.
As experienced committee of members with departmental knowledge is placed in the Commissions (OPSC and OSSC), so creation of New Board is not required at present.
