Training

Gopabandhu Academy of Administration is the premier training institute of the State of Odisha. It was established at Hirakud in the year 1958 and was shifted to Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar in the year 1989. The Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, being the Apex Training Institute of the State is entrusted with the task of Imparting training to IAS (Odisha Cadre), IFS (Odisha Cadre) and OAS Officers at the point of entry, apart from orientation training to officers of other Line Departments of the state Government. Meanwhile the Academy has undergone a change so far as the domain of training curriculum is concerned. It has turned into a Centre of Excellence for Human Resource Development activities. Various training programmes sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India are being designed at this level after exhaustive Training Needs Assessment. Accordingly all the State Government officials are being imparted training throughout the year out of the training course fee placed by DoPT for which a separate Training Calendar has been prepared. The capacity building on PPP by way of training to different officers of Line Department has also been taken up by this Academy. The trainer development schemes like "Capacity Building for Poverty Reduction" and "Training for All" have been taken up by the Academy.
