Government decided to enquire and investigate the allegations against various Mining owners and gave special powers to Vigilance under Mines & Mineral Act etc. The State is 1st State to entrust investigation of Mining case to Vigilance in India. The State Vigilance has been entrusted with the allegation of illegal mining. In the meantime raids have been conducted in the mining owner premises. Clues on illegal mining, violation of Environment Act, Forest Act, Tax evasion, Royalty evasion, Illegal trading, Transportation and Possession of Disproportionate Assets have been detected. In this connection 18 criminal cases have been registered. 12 officials of Mining, Forest and Transport Department and 6 private persons have been arrested. 11 cases have been charge sheeted and sent to court for trial.
